Processed locally. Your image never leaves your device.

Keep going without re-uploading

Your image stays loaded in the editor. Pick the next action and carry on.

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. It is an efficient format, and it is also the reason a photo airdropped to a Windows machine or attached to an email so often will not open.

Converting HEIC in a browser is genuinely hard: unlike JPEG, PNG and WebP, HEIC decoding is not built into most browsers. Safari on Apple platforms can do it; Chrome, Firefox and Edge generally cannot. Rather than shipping a large WebAssembly decoder or quietly uploading your photo to a server, KaiConvert checks whether your browser can decode HEIC and tells you the answer.

What you get

  • Local when your browser allows it

On a browser with native HEIC support the conversion runs on your device like every other tool here.

  • No silent uploads

If local decoding is impossible, nothing is sent anywhere. You are told the tool cannot run, not handed a fake result.

  • Standard JPEG output

The converted file opens on Windows, Android, in email clients and in every photo application.

  • Quality control

The JPEG quality slider is yours, not a fixed default.

How it works

  1. 1

    Capability check

KaiConvert asks the browser whether it can decode image/heic before anything else happens.

  2. 2

    Decode and re-encode

If supported, the photo is decoded to pixels and written out as JPEG at your chosen quality.

  3. 3

    Download

A standard .jpg file, ready to share anywhere.

Specifications

  • This tool is beta. It depends on a native browser HEIC decoder, which most browsers do not ship. KaiConvert detects support up front and refuses to run rather than uploading your photo or fabricating a result.

Why use KaiConvert

  • No upload for local tools
  • Works offline once the page is loaded
  • Cloud AI is always clearly labelled before you start
